October. 9.2024
As the leaves turn from green to gold and drift effortlessly to the ground, October reminds us that change, though inevitable, can BE BEautiful. This season of transformation offers us the perfect opportunity to reflect on our own lives and the changes we've faced or will face. Just like nature prepares itself for the new, so can we. It is a practice, something we get to be aware of, things that we have been doing for years, we can't just stop because we decide we want something different. It is a process, a BEautiful practice!
With each season, comes change, nature knows what it needs to survive. Do you? Do you know what you need to not only survive but thrive? My own journey has been filled with both joy and heartache. I was diagnosed in 2016 with stage 4 colon cancer, I survived with the help of a wonderful support system including my family. My oldest son was an addict, he lost everything, including us. After spending time in jail, and then his 3rd attempt at rehab, I watched my son overcome his battle with his addiction, a victory that required immense strength and perseverance. Then, within a span of just 58 days, (in 2021) I lost both of my parents, leaving me, an only child, with an immeasurable sense of loss. At a time in my life where my children were getting married and having kids of their own. I never thought of my life without them.
How was I going to get through this and be strong for my kids when I was falling apart?
It was through these experiences, I realized that change—whether invited or unexpected—gives us the chance to transform ourselves in ways we never thought possible.
October teaches us to shed what no longer serves us. Just as trees release their leaves, we too must let go of the parts of ourselves that have outgrown their purpose. For me, the loss of my parents and the healing journey with my son were turning points. They reminded me that life’s bumpy roads aren’t dead ends—they’re detours, guiding us to places where we can thrive and grow stronger.
No matter what it is you are going through, know that you have the power to transform your life. Change is an invitation to shift your BEing. It's not always easy, but every season of life brings with it the possibility of a new BEginning as the old draws to a close. Just like October shows us that even in letting go, there is BEauty—so too can we find beauty in our own transformations.
October whispers to us: 'It’s time.' Time to let go, time to heal, time to grow. As the trees stand tall despite losing their leaves, so too can you stand tall through life’s changes. This season of transformation offers the perfect moment to shift your BEing, to step into the person you are meant to BE, and to welcome the BEauty that comes with embracing the winds of change.
What are you called to release as you make room for the BEautiful opportunities embedded in this time of change?
